The Keene Sentinel is utilizing the PageSuite feed-edition platform to launch a new ‘Early Edition’ so that readers can enjoy the latest news headlines from 6am Monday through Saturday.
The new edition arrives before the print replica and enables the publisher to include stories from the previous evening which didn’t make the print edition cut-off. The edition is created by mapping web feeds to HTML templates which have been designed to emulate the print layout. Once the edition has been created, the editorial team at The Keene Sentinel are able to make changes to headlines, articles and images before publishing the edition.
Aaron Sickler, Director of Digital Operations at The Keene Sentinel said; “PageSuite’s automation tools have streamlined our publishing workflow, allowing us to be more flexible with our publishing schedule. We can publish stories that are later than our print deadline, and it allows us to have more flexibility to change the edition than a replica edition does. We can publish a digital (but print-like) product on a much more flexible schedule than our print edition”.
Delivering an edition which closely resembles the printed edition is particularly important as many of their readers are print-centric and the team at The Keene Sentinel see this as a great product for transitioning that audience to digital.
“Our demographic includes readers of all age groups, including older, print-centric readers. PageSuite is the perfect platform for delivering a print-like reading experience”.
The new Early Edition is available across web browsers and within a native app, with both platforms offering a consistent user experience.
“PageSuite empowers our publication to be digital-first, instead of print-first. The automation tools allow us to publish an e-Edition, even on the days that we don’t publish in print”.
Ross Murphy, CEO at PageSuite said; “We’re working with more clients who are looking for ways to either combat early print deadlines, replace print editions altogether or simply package content up in new ways. We’re happy that our feed-edition platform has enabled the team at The Keene Sentinel to curate an edition that brings their readers those stories that couldn’t make the print edition, in a familiar print-like format.”
