Our teams were delighted to roll out The Herald onto our brand new and improved native app platform. After working really closely with the team at Newsquest we are so pleased with the finished product. The branding and design controls have enabled the publisher to really make this app stand out with a slick and professional feel.
Different card styles present content in different ways, depending on the section or category. Content can be nested into sections and subsections for enhanced user experience and easier navigation. From a publisher’s perspective, this means that advertising can become more targeted and push notifications can be more tailored.
Behind the scenes our new intelligent ‘rules engine’ is key to controlling the output of the live news content within the app. With minimal uplift on the publisher side we can define a set of rules that will determine how the app outputs articles and styles content to give the app a unique design.
As well as the live news feed, The Herald app also includes a ‘Best of’ tab which highlights popular articles to readers in an easy-to-view feed. Readers can also access the daily paper via our market-leading Edition SDK. The ‘papers’ tab houses the daily replica edition, a full archive of previous editions and any related supplements.
There’s also a puzzles tab, bringing subscribers interactive puzzle content to keep them engaged and give them even more reasons to return to the app.
Enhanced reader features allow users to share, save and bookmark content across both the live news sections and replica editions. Our new native app features improved audio and video functionality too.
We have completely rebuilt our app product from the ground up as a purely native application on both iOS and Android, to improve performance, stability and integrate more closely with device features.
Our platform can ingest content feeds from all the common CMS providers and our web and app products integrate with a wide-variety of subscription and authentication platforms. Speak to our team to find out more about how you can upgrade to our latest and greatest native app.
