Switch Apps capture pages to deliver bonus content

Enhancing printed publications with innovative camera apps

PageSuite are identifying new opportunities for magazines and newspapers to enhance published print editions with the development of Switch Apps. We see using dual experiences, such as using a Smartphone and reading a print edition at the same time, becoming increasingly popular and present interesting opportunities for publishers to explore.

Whilst publishers are already finding new ways to offer content to their readers through mobile and tablet apps; Switch Apps are designed to provide a more interactive ‘second-screen’ experience and combine print and digital in innovative ways.

Devices detecting and producing additional content

Switch Apps will allow a reader to hover over specified sections of a print newspaper or magazine and receive additional content that is only available through the Switch App. Readers can detect a print edition with their Smartphone or tablet camera, which captures the page and brings up pre-determined offers, promotions or content on their device.

Switch Apps can be integrated as part of an existing Dynamic App, Custom App or be marketing as a stand-alone product across our various existing supported platforms - iPad, iPhone, Android and Windows 8.

Bringing printed editions to life on a second-screen

Much like our Companion Apps, we believe these will increase engagement levels of existing content, offering a greater depth to customer experience with bonus content on multiple branded channels. Advertisement opportunities can also be linked from scanned pages, generating interactive on-screen content such as video or animation.

Publishers can also offer Switch Apps as part of a subscription bundle, integrating products and innovations to drive a central strategy. Whatever your business model, we offer consultation and advice alongside design and development
